TEAM Leon program releases list of small business recipients

A total of 53 small businesses received $258,500 from Leon County government’s TEAM Leon program, recently released records show.

The Targeted Emergency Assistance Microgrant used money from the county’s catastrophe fund to assist individuals and businesses in the unincorporated parts of the county after the May 10 tornado outbreak.

The list of recipients is part of the final report of the TEAM Leon program to the Leon County Commission.

Businesses who were awarded money were not required to fill out specifics of damages in their applications but were awarded money based on certain criteria: Businesses could be given $2,500 for loss of inventory, $2,500 for business disruption and an additional award of up to $5,000 for major property damage. (The total award couldn’t exceed $10,000.)
