Businesses throughout the Los Angeles area rely on the entertainment industry for a variety of functions. So when two major industry unions went on strike last year, many small businesses felt the impact. Now, a new grant program is aimed at supporting these businesses and any businesses adversely affected by the coronavirus. Read below to learn about this new opportunity and other small business grants.
Los Angeles County Entertainment Business Interruption Fund
The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity and the County Film Office just announced A new $4.1 million grant program to support local small businesses hit hard by COVID-19 and the 2023 Hollywood Strikes. The Entertainment Business Interruption Fund provides grants of $10,000 to $25,000 to eligible businesses that support LA County’s entertainment industry. Qualifications include annual gross revenue of $3 million or less, with at least 70% of the revenue coming from the entertainment industry. The application deadline is May 24th.
H&R Block Fund Her Future Grants
Recent H&R Block Block Advisor Created A new grant program to support women-owned businesses. The Fund Her Future Small Business Grant Program will award five eligible women-owned businesses with a total of $100,000 in funding and access to one year of her small business services at Block Advisors. Applications are currently being accepted online and will be accepted until May 26th.
Strong retail subsidies in Washington DC
Washington, DC recently kicked off Small Business Week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Bandura Designs’ newly renovated offices. The company is one of the city’s businesses to benefit from the Robust Retail Grants program, which is still available to provide funding to eligible businesses. The program offers grants of up to $10,000 that can be used to address a variety of business needs, from renovations to payroll. The city has been offering grants through the program since 2019, and 64 additional businesses received grants this year, with more than $4 million awarded.
Youngstown Small Business Subsidy Increase
New Small Business Promotion Grants in Youngstown, Ohio Recruitment Funds to support local businesses. The Intentional Development Group administers the city-funded grant program. Eligible companies will also receive tools and educational resources to achieve long-term success. The application period is currently open until May 31st.
Madison Kiva Lawns Match
Madison, Wisconsin offer A matching program for local small businesses that receive Kiva loans. The popular crowdfunding platform offers 0 percent interest loans to small business owners and startups. Madison’s matching program is available to businesses that receive these loans and work with designated community partners. The city supports the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce, the Wisconsin Hmong Chamber of Commerce, the Dane County Latino Chamber of Commerce, the Madison Cooperative Development Coalition, the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Inc., the Dane Buy Local, and the Madison Central Business Improvement District.
West Monroe Next Level Business Grant
West Monroe, Louisiana is offering matching grants to help local businesses make exterior improvements. Keeping West Monroe beautiful is person in charge The Next Level Business Grants program offers two $250 grants and one $500 grant to eligible businesses. The program provides reimbursement subsidies, which require a one-to-one match from businesses. Applications are due by May 10th and are available both online and at City Hall.
