Franchise store sales continue to decline

According to the latest Builders Commercial Building Index (BMBI) report, total sales for builders decreased by 2.1% in January 2024 compared to January 2023, and sales volume decreased by 3.2%, but prices increased This was eased by an increase of 1.1%.

However, January 2024 added one trading day. Daily intake decreased by 6.5% compared to the previous year.

Year-on-year, landscaping products (up 6.2%) and decorative materials (up 6.1%) grew in January, but the largest product categories affected overall sales: heavy construction materials – 3.8%, wood; – Fittings products decreased by 6.3%.

Compared to December 2023, which was sluggish, the order value for January as a whole increased by 41% month-on-month. Sales volume increased by 44%, but prices decreased by 2.1%. Daily trading volume increased by 2.7% in January due to six additional business days.

Sales volume for the year to the end of January 2024 decreased by 12.9%. Prices increased by 8.8% year-on-year, but take-home pay decreased by 5.2%.
