AFC Ecoplastics Compostable Polymers

Formera, a leader in functional materials distribution, announced a partnership with AFC Ecoplastics to distribute compostable products to the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Formera will market AFC’s range of compostable resins, compounds and colorants, including PBAT (polybutylene coadipate coterephthalate) and PBS (polybutylene succinate) resins. These materials are particularly suitable for both rigid and film consumer packaged goods (CPG) applications, as well as medical packaging and laboratory equipment, meeting the demand for sustainable alternatives in these areas. . It is also approved by Health Canada and the FDA.

“AFC has always been at the forefront of sustainable materials innovation,” said Ha Le, CEO of AFC Ecoplastics. “Partnering with Formerra was a natural step to expand our reach and influence.Formerra’s robust distribution network, extensive technical support, and excellent reputation among packaging customers will help our company. It provides the ultimate platform for compostable solutions.”

Demand for compostable packaging is increasing. Regulations such as California’s SB154 are underway in several U.S. states and will require single-use plastics to be recyclable or compostable within the next few years. “Working with AFC is an important step forward in our sustainability efforts,” said Mike Balasco, Director of Sustainability and Business Development at Formera. “This will help our customers address the changing regulatory landscape and strengthen their environmentally conscious consumer product offerings.” We are committed to helping brands achieve both compliance and their own sustainability goals. ”

The AFC material is BPI certified and also has TÜV OK Compost industrial certification (EN 13432). Materials with this label are guaranteed to be biodegradable in industrial composting plants.

Formera will be exhibiting at NPE 2024 in Orlando, Florida next week at booth S39025.
