F1 News: New Las Vegas GP tickets revealed as more affordable option

In response to previous criticism of high ticket prices, the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix has introduced new, more affordable tickets. The initiative includes 10,000 “backpacker” tickets to expand access and fan participation to the event.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix made a notable return to the F1 calendar last year after an absence of more than 40 years, and is set to address one of the most important challenges from the 2023 event: ticket affordability. Last year, ticket prices, which initially soared to nearly $1,000 for just a practice session, faced significant backlash, forcing organizers to rethink their pricing strategy.

In preparation for the 2024 race, Las Vegas Grand Prix Inc., run by F1’s commercial rights holder Liberty Media, is taking significant steps to rectify the situation. The organization has introduced a variety of ticket options that maintain an exclusive, high-end experience, but also cater to traditional F1 fans seeking more affordable options. This includes the introduction of ‘backpacker’ tickets, with prices significantly lower than last year, with general admission starting at just $150. The move introduced approximately 10,000 new affordable tickets to the market.

Commenting on these developments, Las Vegas Grand Prix Inc. CEO Lenny Wilm expressed great satisfaction with the adjustments that have been made. Wilm made the comments during an appearance on the Motorsport Stage at Soho Beach House. Quoted by Autosport:

“We really took best practices from around the world and brought them into the event. But we also want to set the bar even higher for the fan experience and the sport. We’re proud to say it was a great race. think.

“I think one of the biggest achievements for us has been fan engagement and creating a product ladder that is more accessible through the wider fan base. We put a lot of emphasis on what we learned here in Miami in our first year.

“And unfortunately, that leaves a lot of our fan base unable to afford tickets to get back on track. And that’s not what we want. We don’t want to isolate our fans. So this year we’ve completely revamped it and added around 10,000 more affordable tickets.

“Some people value entertainment, others want to be close to the paddock so they can take part in the first turn of the track. And prices are much lower at the Flamingo Zone so that entry-level backpackers can really enjoy the event. .”

In addition, Mr. Wilm provided insight into the challenges and learning curve that comes with facilitating such a large-scale event. “I now know firsthand how difficult it is to be a promoter,” Willum added.

“I think one of the lessons learned from this project has made us more empathetic about what it takes to host this type of event.

“I think it will be a great opportunity for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but it will be a big concession from our Middle Eastern partners.”
